The chicken fried steak has finally arrived in Hong Kong

Stone Nullah Tavern is the new kid in town serving American comfort food just off Queen's Road East in Wanchai.

Brought to you by the same group behind Posto Pubblico, Pizzeria Pubblico and Linguini Fini, Stone Nullah Tavern uses a lot of fresh and locally sourced ingredients and adds a gourmet twist classic diner dishes.

We ordered:
- Heirloom Tomato Salad
- Pickled vegetables
- Spicy Fries
- Tater tots
- Grilled Prawns
- Chicken Fried Tenderloin
- Foie Gras Burgers
- Crackling Pork
- Mac n Cheese
- Fat Kid Cake
- Ovaltine Ice Cream
- Corn ice cream with popcorn and fried polenta

PROS:

1. Chicken Fried Tenderloin: This is one of the dishes I miss from living in the states. I don't think you can find this anywhere else in the world. I'm so glad that it's finally arrived in Hong Kong! (There is a version of this at The Flying Pan, but it's absolutely pathetic.)

A deep fried piece of a juicy beef tenderloin, the batter had just the right amount of crunch and was smothered in a creamy sausage gravy and sprinkled with green onions.

2. Foie Gras Burgers: They're actually two sliders (mini-burgers) with a piece of seared foie gras on top. The burger patties were also very juicy and tender and seemed to melt in your mouth. There is a sweet and savory aspect of this dish as they use sweet Chinese milk buns for the bread.

Foie gras is one of my favorite things in the world and my only issue is that they should be more generous with the foie!

CONS:
Mainly, the portions were small and overpriced, especially considering that a lot of the fresh produce and other ingredients are locally sourced.

1. Pickled Vegetables: The portion was way too small, about the size of my palm.

2. Grilled Prawns: Nothing memorable.

3. Tater tots: A little too deep fried and almost to the point of tasting slightly burned.

4. Spicy Fries: While they were spicy and well seasoned, the portion was again too small. Only a handful of fries.

RATING:
3.5 / 5

THE BOTTOM LINE:
The meal was enjoyable for the most part and the food is decent enough. The Chicken Fried Tenderloin and Foie Gras Burgers are good enough to keep going back for but I don't think I would go back for anything else.
